We are currently seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join a talented team responsible for administering, managing, designing, documenting, and evaluating a variety of database management systems. The successful candidate must have the ability to perform complex technical, analytical and professional services for clients involving architecture, evaluation, database-driven Web sites, office operations support, and problem resolution.


::Key Responsibilities::

  • Provide subject matter expertise for clients. Support Database applications with trouble shooting, performance tuning, and database best practices.
  • Design and document database architecture. Work with Sales Engineering to provide guidance in design.
  • Manage our partnership with third party DBA vendor support.
  • Build database scheme, tables, procedures, and permissions.
  • Set up data sharing and disk partitioning.
  • Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements.
  • Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency.
  • Monitor systems and platforms for availability. Set up SQL and Oracle monitors in our monitoring software Uptime.
  • Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication, and failover.
  • Restore and recover corrupted databases.
  • Install and test upgrades and patches.
  • Implement security and encrytion.
  • Provide 24/7 support for critical situations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new database technologies.
  • Develop database utilities and automated reporting.
  • Create shell scripts for task automation.
  • Work with the Linux and Windows Systems and Administration teams and provide assistance and subject matter expertise as required.
  • Be aware of the company’s policy on information security and take whatever actions may from time to time be required of you under the terms of the company’s Information Security Management System.
  • Be aware of and abide by all company policies and procedures (eg. Employee Handbook).
  • Ensure quality processes and documentation are developed and followed to effectively create corporate intelligence and assist in efficient standard operating procedures in support of Company’s ISO 9001/27001 standards.

  • ::Qualifications/Skills::

  • Associate Degree in IT Services or equivalent Oracle DBA.
  • 5+ or more years of experience with: Oracle Database Administration, PL/SQL, Backup and Recovery, and Performance Tuning.
  • Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools.
  • A good knowledge of the physical database design.
  • Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of ALL Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
  • A good knowledge of Oracle security management.
  • A good knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages resources.
  • A good knowledge Oracle data integrity.
  • Sound knowledge of the implemented application systems.
  • Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle.
  • A sound knowledge of both database and system performance tuning.
  • A good understanding of the underlying operating system.
  • Very good understanding on database virtualization concepts and best practices MSSQL DBA.
  • 5+ years SQL Server Database Administration (2008/2012/2014/2016).
  • 3-5 years of managing SQL Server Failover Clusters (Windows 2008/2012).
  • Proficient writing, maintaining and optimizing complex T-SQL.
  • Proficient writing PowerShell scripts/modules/functions.
  • Strong performance tuning capabilities.
  • Strong understanding on database Encryption and data masking.
  • Ability to quickly resolve availability/performance issues related to SQL Server.
  • Proficient with SQL Server client and administrative tools.
  • SQL Server database security administration.
  • Strong knowledge of backup, restores and recovery models.
  • Good understanding on SQLServer high availability and disaster recovery options (Always On, Mirroring, Log Shipping).
  • Very good understanding on database virtualization concepts and best practices.
  • In depth understanding and troubleshooting skills on Windows Servers.
  • Experience coordinating the technical tasks required to accomplish a major software upgrade, hardware replacement, or disaster recovery exercise for mission critical MS SQL Server systems.
  • A DBA should have sound communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators.
  • Provide a strategic database direction for the organization.
  • A DBA should have the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A DBA should possess a sound understanding of the business.
  • Capable of providing 7×24 on-call database support and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent skills in problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Ability and eagerness to quickly master new technologies.
  • To be considered, candidates must demonstrate a passion for supporting and maintaining mission-critical database systems and the infrastructure that hosts them, and be capable of maintaining a calm and cooperative demeanor in high-pressure situations. Candidate must also possess excellent relationship building and communication skills.
